Beach Please!

By FLsm 14 Jun 2019

It’s not exactly been the height of summer this week! But things are set to hotten up! There’s at least one or two days next week that are in the 20’s! It’s practically going to be a scorcher. If you fancy making the most of a couple of warm days, then why not head to the beach. Coventry is practically the centre of England and so not the closest to a beach but on the plus side, you have beaches all over England within a couple of hours away. Here’s a run down of the nearest beaches to Coventry.

Weston Super Mare

Journey time - 2 hours

This is a buzzing seaside town - think donkey rides, arcades, ice-creams and fish and chips. You’ll see people here on buggies flying kites but be careful where you go for a paddle! It can get pretty muddy near the pier!

Hunstanton

Journey time - 2 and a half hours

This is the nearest beach to Coventry in miles. Just 118 miles away and takes just over 2 and a half hours.

Skegness

Journey time - 2 and a half hours

Everyone loves a bit of Skegvegas! There’s a large promenade from Skegness to Ingoldmells where there’s a fair ground and market and then you can have a leisurely walk onto the quieter area of Chapel St.Leonards. Skegness is full of funny music tribute acts, arcades, sea life centre and there’s plenty of places to buy things to play on the beach.

Bournemouth

Journey time - 2 and a half hours

It only takes 2 and a half hours to get to Bournemouth on the train from Coventry. Bournemouth has a lovely beach and a city that you can explore also.

Brighton

2 hours 50 minutes

Brighton is an eclectic place, with a pebble beach and blue waters this is a great beach to chill out on. Brighton is also a super cool town with independent shops, bars and a really good vibe. This is definitely a place to venture too.

Barry Island

3 hours

If you love Gavin and Stacey, you have to take a trip to Barry Island where this was set. You can see Marco’s where Stacey worked, the arcade Nessa worked and even Dave’s coaches. There’s crazy golf and you can even get a breakfast where the size is based on each of the characters. Fancy a small breakfast then get the Stacey breakfast or the Smithy breakfast if you’re feeling hungry!

Newquay

Journey Time: 4 hours and 45 minutes

Newquay has a beautiful beach and has clear blue waters. You’ll be able to catch a few surfers there and there’s a reason why plenty of stag and hen do’s go there as the city is so vibrant and full of bars, restaurants and things to do too.
